A small delegation of our club players participated in the Irish Junior Chess Championships 2017 in Sligo last weekend. Congratulations to everyone who took part in the competition showing amazing results which was the first ever serious tournament for most of them.
Our girls Milena and Ilona Mkrtichyan competed in Under 12 and Under 14 categories, finishing on the 2nd and 3rd places in the girls section respectively. Congratulations girls! Very impressive results from both sisters!
Other notable performance in Under 12 category came from Gagik Avetisyan, who received a grading prize for finishing as the top unrated player in his category.
Our youngest players were well represented by 4 players in Under 8 category were they really shined. Congratulations to our pride Alik Paronyan (5/6) who came 3rd losing the 2nd place Singh Aaditya only by TBD points. In their turn, Arsen Hakhumyan and Arman Arshakyan came 5th and 7th by TBD points, sharing the 3rd best result (4/6). Hayk Avetisyan finished behind them with very strong result – 3/6.
